Sioux Falls bathroom misunderstanding prompts child safety conversation [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – A social media post about an older man in a bathroom with a 7-year-old child is creating a unique dialogue within the Sioux Falls community in regard to safety. The man involved was not arrested, and questions are circulating as to whether it was all just a misunderstanding.

Heather Gniffke was with her kids when they made a stop at a Sioux Falls business Tuesday morning.

“The worker stopped me and asked what vehicle I was checking in. He wanted me to go outside, and the kids kept asking to go potty,” Heather said.

After coming back inside, Heather then went to find her kids who went to the bathroom.

“The door opened, and an older man came out, and we made eye contact. I said a couple of things, and he quickly took off,” Heather said.

The staff then called the Sioux Falls Police Department.
