Officers from Mobile attend seminar by company accused of teaching unconstitutional tactics [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Law enforcement officers from a pair of Gulf Coast agencies attended a law enforcement conference in Florida this week run by a controversial company that has been banned in some states and accused of teaching unconstitutional policing tactics.

The company sponsoring the five-day seminar outside of Orlando, Street Cop Training, guaranteed attendees “the experience of a lifetime.” It promised “priceless law enforcement knowledge” and “top quality training” on topics ranging from stopping drug trafficking to understanding body language to social media investigations.

But the company has come under intense scrutiny. The New Jersey state comptroller’s office last year issued a scathing report accusing the company’s instructors at a 2021 conference of making racially intolerant comments, promoting disrespect for the public and chain of command, and glorifying violence.
