Watch: Home and business owners in east Donegal deal with flooding aftermath [Video]

Home and businesses owners in parts of East Donegal endured a night of absolute horror as their premises were flooded.

Met Eireann had issued a status yellow rainfall alert, warning of ‘potential for flooding,’ 

But nothing could have prepared people for the deluge that ensued, with rivers of water running down streets and into properties. The fire service was on hand to mitigate damage as much as possible, with crews working tirelessly to pump water from the area. 

At the scene of the flooding in Castlefinn, one of the worst hit areas, owners of McGlynn’s Restaurant took to social media to convey their gratitude for the response to the crisis. 

“Not all hero’s wear capes,” they said. “We have some superstars here tonight it will be remembered.”
