Bus drivers for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools are walking out for a second day.They say the demonstration is over low wages, lack of transparency and safety concerns.On Tuesday, 45 drivers called out of work for the walkout, affecting 20% of the morning routes. This is more than the first day of the walk out on Monday, which saw 36 total absences, affecting about 126 routes.There has been mixed community reaction on social media around the demonstration. Some are in support of the drivers’ efforts, while others say it is causing unnecessary inconvenience.Crystal Thompson has been a bus driver and educator with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools for over 20 years.”We do apologize. But we had to take a stand for our safety. Parents taking accountability for behavior on the bus. And our pay. We get paid nothing. We are below poverty,” she said.
