UNITED STATES, — The word ‘demure’ has taken over the social media world and has sparked a trendy phrase. 

But where did the term originate from, and why is it so popular all of a sudden?

The word started its popularity on the social media app, TikTok where creator Jools Lebron (@joolieannie) created a video called, “How to be demure and modest and respectful at the workplace.”

In the video, Lebron talks about her makeup look for work. Her makeup isn’t how over-the-top and is subtle when she says, “I don’t come to work with a green-cut crease.” She also talks about her attire saying that she dresses presentable and isn’t “doing too much.”

Since the video was posted on Aug. 5, it has gained over 50 million views, over 4 million …
