(Gray News) – Six Flags has no plans to close any of its parks, despite rumors this week that it would be considering its options.
In an email Friday, Six Flags Corporate Director of Communications Gary Rhodes confirmed, “We have no plans to close parks.”
The reports of possible closures came after Six Flags Entertainment Corporation released its quarterly earnings report on Wednesday, which was the first since merging with Cedar Fair.
Some media outlets said the earnings report suggested Six Flags would at least consider closing some of its 42 locations as part of its long-term business plan, though no language in the report says that directly.
The earnings report said as part of the company’s plan, Six Flags will “review the park portfolio over time, to optimize the asset base, narrow management’s focus, and help reduce net leverage.”
This, however, does not equate to park closures, as Rhodes confirmed in his email.
