CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Sheriff Oscar Rivera took to social media Thursday with an urgent call for business owners who might be vulnerable to a certain crime authorities are seeing in San Patricio County.
“Embezzlement: ‘the fraudulent taking of personal property by someone to whom it’s entrusted,'” the post says.
“This year we were tasked with several cases where a trusted employee allegedly took large amounts of monies or paid of personal expenses using a company credit card, or forged employer’s signature on a check, to name a few.”
