With wintry weather forecast for next week bringing freezing temperatures, some schools in Louisiana are announcing closures.
As Louisiana anticipates the cold, some area schools are announcing closures. Below is a list of schools that have and haven’t announced plans to close on Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2025).
State Offices
- All state offices will be closed statewide on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Orleans Parish
- Elan Academy Charter School
- International High School of New Orleans
- The Willow School, Professional Development day for staff canceled – School officials said they will notify of potential changes or cancellations for athletic competitions in the coming days.
- All Firstline Schools will be closed – this includes Samuel J. Green Charter, Arthur Ashe Charter, Phillis Wheatley, and Langston Hughes Academy.
Jefferson Parish
- All Jefferson Parish government facilities will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21 – this includes libraries, Head Start and Early Head Start Centers, American Job Centers and JPRD parks and playgrounds
