According to the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, solicitors are looking to scam local businesses and community members under the guise of supporting youth sports.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — A scam is targeting the Bowling Green community, according to a social media post made by the city’s police department Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, a man is going to local businesses, claiming to sell candy of behalf of Upward Sports, a youth ministry outreach program centered around athletics. The man is claiming that he is affiliated with the program, which is based out of the Bowling Green Church of the Nazarene, located on Gorrill Road.
Upward Sports confirmed online that they are not affiliated with this man, and are currently not selling candy as a fundraiser at this point in time.
