Graduates from South Carolina State University prepare for success as they enter a competitive job market with promising opportunities.
ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The sense of accomplishment was unmistakable at South Carolina State University’s graduation ceremony on Thursday. While many were thrilled to complete their degrees, they also braced themselves for the competitive job market.
Kyndel Walker, who graduated with a degree in Business Management, is preparing to enter the workforce as a management trainee with Enterprise. He reflected on the difficulties of the job search process but emphasized the importance of mental preparation.
“I think the job search was easy within itself, but the preparation for it was the difficult part—having to get your mental right and making sure you have your tools lined up after you leave here,” Walker said. He encourages fellow graduates to be open-minded about their next steps. “Broaden your horizons. Don’t just settle for one thing. It’s a big world out there—go for it.”
