SAGINAW, Mich. (WJRT) – A new era of the Saginaw Public School District will begin on Tuesday.
Sept. 3 is the first day of classes in Saginaw, and high school students will be attending Saginaw United High School, the new $85 million building.
The funding for the new school came from a $100 million bond project passed by Saginaw voters in 2020.
The total project is a work in progress, as the sports fieldhouse, just south of the high school, is still under construction.
Across town, the former Saginaw High School building will now be a middle school, with only sixth graders attending it this school year.
1979 Saginaw High School graduate Charles Brown says the east-side neighborhood will have a different feel.
Other middle school grades will be phased into the Saginaw Middle School over the next few years.
