Nike Sportswear dropped the mic Sunday as an Instagram post teased the possible return of the highly sought- after Nike Dunk High Wu-Tang, a sneaker featuring the Staten Island rap group’s iconic logo.
The “mythical” kicks, released in 1999, were a collaboration with the Wu-Tang Clan that featured a goldenrod and black color combination with the Wu-Tang “W” embroidered into the heel, as per a story posted on Sneaker News.
Rumors have circulated over the years that only 36 of the original pairs were made — a nod to the group’s “Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers” album — but a former Nike employee clarified that around 100 pairs of the shoes were produced and split between Nike and Wu-Tang, the report said.
The pairs were reportedly delivered to each of the group’s members as well as members of their team.
