SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Spokane Valley Fire Department’s cut the ribbon on a brand new training facility on Thursday afternoon.
The 13,000 square foot training facility near Garland Avenue and Barker Road will allow firefighters to train year-round regardless of weather.
The facility features a mock two-bedroom apartment where fire crews can simulate live-saving procedures and a new burn building, which allows firefighters to train amidst burning flames.
SVFD said the new facility will help save time and money when it comes to getting new firefighters out on the front lines.
“We don’t know when our next structure fire call is going to come in. So, our crews being able to train here, year-round, is going to be hugely beneficial to work on new skills and hone our current skills, year-round,” said Captain Dan Pooley.
