HARRISBURG, Pa. — A new year starts with new plans for the Broad Street Market.
The City of Harrisburg, which owns the market, announced on Thursday an estimated $20 million project, which includes renovations, upgrades and construction of a brand new building.
“I had to choose an option that was best suited for the residents of Harrisburg,” said Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams.
The first phase of the project is repairing the brick building, which was all but destroyed by a 2023 fire.
“We won’t let one project slow down another project,” said David Baker, Director of Facilities and Special Projects for the City of Harrisburg. “Our full focus right now is the brick building renovation and getting it back in business.”
The new building would connect the brick building with the existing stone building, which the city says needs upgrades.
