New fire station without any smoke detectors burns down [Video]

You would think the last place that would ever burn to the ground would be a fire station, right?

They literally house people who dedicate their lives to fight fires after all.

It happened, though.  A brand-new fire station in Germany that was only operational for about ten months recently burned to the ground, and nobody caught the fire in time because the building was not equipped with any smoke detectors!

Apparently, there’s no code in Stadtallendorf, Germany that required smoke detectors to be installed.  Maybe they just figured there would be enough firefighters present at all times to catch any incident before it grew too big to control.

Obviously, that was not the case.  It is unclear even if any firefighters were present at the time of the incident.

According to Firehouse.com, no firefighters were injured in the incident, but it was a total loss exceeding $22 million in damages.
