LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Students from across Nebraska gathered at the state Capitol on Monday to advocate for Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) in their schools.
Gov. Jim Pillen kicked off the morning in the rotunda with a proclamation declaring February as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month. Following the ceremony, students studying business, marketing, finance, and trades had the opportunity to meet with their state representatives.
While excited to be at the Capitol, many students emphasized they were advocating for those who could not attend.
“Kids who are involved with CTSOs often graduate at a higher rate and are more successful in their careers, as well as more focused on what they want to do with their life,” said Brandon Hansen, a DECA senior at Lincoln Southwest High School.
