Nashville public school teachers return to classroom preparing for school year [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Metro Nashville Public Schools teachers returned to the classroom on Monday morning to start getting ready for the school year.

The district added more professional development days this year to make sure students can hit the ground running when they walk through the doors, at buildings like Eakin Elementary, next Tuesday.

Principal Mattie Crumbo has been busy with her staff to get all the pencils, books and other supplies in place this week. She wants to make sure there are lots of supports in place so students can have a smooth transition to their new classrooms.

“The back-to-school time is pure magic,” Crumbo said. “All of our students are so excited to be back to school. It is a new experience for many of them, and that is why we really make sure we have those transitions in place to support students. As they engage in …
