A recent Millard West High School graduate was killed in a crash near Nebraska City on Tuesday morning, the district confirmed.Deputies responded to a call for a pedestrian walking in the roadway on Highway 2 near the North Highway 75 interchange around 5:04 a.m., the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office said.As deputies were responding, the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle, authorities said.Deputies and Nebraska City Fire & Rescue attempted life-saving measures for the pedestrian, identified as 18-year-old Harrell Jackson Jr., who was declared dead at the scene, the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office said.Investigators said Jackson was walking in the dark while wearing dark-colored clothing in the traffic lane on the Highway 2 on-ramp when he was hit by a westbound vehicle.Millard Public Schools said Jackson was a “beloved member of our Wildcat family,” in a statement on social media.”Harrell embodied dedication, resilience, joy, and team spirit, leaving an indelible mark …
