SKOWHEGAN — Skowhegan offers some stunning sights and sounds, and recent efforts by town organizations include plans to enhance and expand hiking trails around the area.
The master trail plan includes a multitude of recreation projects, including adding brand new hiking trails, clearing and beautifying existing trails, and adding new buildings and developments to Lake George Regional Park.
“The master trail plan addressed our overall goals of bringing the community together, creating a resource that would be attractive to both local people and visitors in the area, and it’s generally an evaluation of the assets and then ideas on how the assets move forward,” said Darryl White, Director of Lake George Regional Park.
“One of our brand pillars here in Skowhegan is outdoor recreation, so we’re looking at how we can utilize natural resources and our best assets here in Skowhegan, like our river and our woodlands, which are adjacent to our downtown area, frankly, as recreation infrastructure,” shared Kristina Cannon, …
