Marc Yamada confirmed as Montgomery County Police Chief [Video]

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Assistant Chief Marc Yamada was confirmed Tuesday as the next chief of the Montgomery County Police Department. He will become the first Japanese-American to lead the department, beginning July 1 after current Police Chief Marcus Jones retires.

Yamada is a 35-year veteran with the department. He grew up in Wheaton, where he attended public schools before getting his bachelors degree in business management/marketing from Frostburg State University. After a year of graduate studies, Yamada joined the police department, where he has been ever since.
