During the holidays local animal rescues and shelters are getting the word out about ways to help out.
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Hope for Life Rescue in Virgina Beach says the holidays may include a furry friend under the Christmas tree as a present.
Nina Garces, an Animal Caretaker with Hope for Life Rescue, said it’s a challenge they face with adoptions this time of year.
Garces adds, “We want to make sure these animals are not being surrendered into shelters a couple weeks after adoption. That’s always a really frightening part about giving an animal like that. It’s a huge lifelong commitment, not just for Christmas”
Hope For Life needed to refill their Angel Tree for pet supply donations in the days before Christmas.
Workers there celebrated the amount of people who answered the call and gave back.
