LG&E, Spectrum warn customers of scammers posing as sales people in Louisville | News from WDRB [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Scammers are trying to trick homeowners around Louisville this summer.

LG&E sent a message to customers warning them about scammers going door-to-door trying to get homeowners to purchase solar panels. Those scammers are posing as LG&E employees.

“What we want our customers to know is that we are not affiliated with any companies that do direct marketing sales for residential rooftop solar systems,” said Liz Pratt, LG&E and KU spokesperson.

But the scams are not just in-person.

“We will never contact them directly and demand payment or ask for payment,” Pratt said. “We will never contact them directly to request banking or credit card information.”

LG&E encourages people who believe they are being scammed to call the official LG&E number at (502) 589-1444 or 800-331-7370.

Spectrum Cable is also dealing with scammers. People are receiving phone calls from random numbers claiming they need to up their service or risk losing their promotions.
