Changes are coming next year for Killeen ISD students and staff.
KILLEEN, Texas — The Killeen ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2025-26 academic calendar, which features several minor changes, on Tuesday.
One of the biggest changes includes two additional days of professional development and workday time for teachers and staff members.
The adjustment comes after internal discussions with teachers and faculty.
“We came to this recommendation after listening to our campus staff, who felt like they needed more time to plan together and work in their classrooms,” Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Will Baker said.
“We wanted to honor what they were telling us and find a way to make that happen,” he continued.
In addition, instructional days will decrease by two to 168 days total while the school day will be extended by seven minutes.
