Kansas City representatives address property crimes at monthly police board meeting [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – On Sunday, Jan. 12, several businesses on both sides of the state lines posted on social media that their business had been broken into. Those messages are now drawing the attention of city representatives.

Once every month, city council members and Kansas City police hold a Board of Police Commissioners Meeting at KCPD Headquarters. The meeting gives officers a chance to discuss issues or updates from across the city. The main topic on Tuesday morning addressed the recent stretch of property crimes.

KCPD Chief Stacey Graves said property crime is a volume crime, which means the people committing the crime tend to commit a lot of crimes. She said officers will take a targeted approach in Kansas City’s Westside.
