FOXBOROUGH – When rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez kicked off his football career at a young age, the Carrollton, Texas native dared to dream of the day he would finally be able to take care of his family of six.
Last week, the New England Patriots’ 2023 first-round draft pick’s far-off fantasy became reality as he announced on social media he had closed on a home in his family’s home state.
“It was amazing,” Gonzalez said of gifting the house to his family. “It was kind of surreal. It’s still, you know, processing, but it was just such a crazy feeling…amazing feeling. To be able to see their smiles on their faces was something I’ve always wanted.”
The Gonzalez clan is no stranger to seeing how sports fosters opportunity.
Christian’s two older sisters were NCAA Division 1 All-Star athletes, and Hector, his 6-foot-9 father, played college basketball at the University of Texas at El Paso before competing …
