Former President Donald Trump appeared to be the target of an assassination attempt as he spoke during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. That’s according to two law enforcement officials who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.The former president and presumptive Republican nominee was holding his final campaign rally before the Republican National Convention opens Monday when bangs started ringing through the crowd.Trump confirmed in a statement following the event that he was struck by a bullet. “I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” a written statement from Trump said. “Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”Trump could be seen reaching with his right hand toward his neck.
