After stints in the Liberal Party, United Australia Party and One Nation, former MP Craig Kelly has announced he has joined a new political party.

Speaking to 2GB, Kelly revealed he has joined the Libertarian Party and plans to run for a federal Senate seat in the 2025 election.

“We need better government in this country, and I’m determined to try and get back into that federal parliament,” Kelly said.

Kelly was elected as a Liberal MP to the House of Representatives in 2010, before defecting in 2021 to sit on the crossbench, and eventually joining Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party.

Despite his long list of party memberships, Kelly said his “values haven’t changed”.
