Grant will improve access to Love County Library – KTEN [Video]

MARIETTA, Okla. (KTEN) — The Love County Library has been awarded a Libraries Transforming Communities grant, with the hopes of making their building more accessible to citizens with disabilities.

Love County, Healdton, and Davis, three branches of the Southern Oklahoma Library System, all recently, or currently, are undergoing renovations to reinforce their infrastructure. Now, they’re all receiving grants to make more improvements.

“All of the branches get to apply for whatever grants they choose.” Explained Love County Library Branch Manager Neshia Crane. “This was just a really good opportunity to get a little extra money for the things that we weren’t able to afford with the renovations.”

Using this grant, the branches are hoping to become more disability-friendly. Crane believes there are multiple routes they could take to improve accommodations.

“Automated doors, having the library parking lot repainted, getting a handicap-accessible table for my children’s area.”
