This is a recording of a live event that took place on 9th October 2024
In this session we will explore a range of teaching and learning strategies that can be used for both introducing and recycling phonics knowledge in the Modern Languages classroom from KS3. We will explore common challenges of the new Read Aloud and Dictation tasks and help you develop students’ phonic abilities in these areas.
We will use examples from French, German and Spanish, but all the strategies that we share will be applicable across the three languages.
By the end of this session, you will:
• understand common challenges in Read Aloud and Dictation in new MFL GCSE 2024
• be able to introduce phonics as a natural element of language teaching
• have explored a range of activities that integrate phonics into teaching and learning, from starters to flipped learning, classroom competitions and plenaries
• immediately be able to put your learning into practice in your next language lessons.
