Wednesday starts with lots of clouds and a few showers during the morning.Heavy downpours and a few thunderstorms will shift in during the afternoon, evening and overnight hours — especially in central and northern areas.A widespread 1 to 3 inches of rain is likely, with potential for a thin band of 3 to 6 inches of rain.Significant flash flooding will occur under the heaviest band. As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, that band looks like it will form from the Adirondack Park through the Champlain Valley and into the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.Shift potential remains.
