Fentanyl awareness campaign uses AI to immortalize victims [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – People who died from fentanyl overdoses are being given a second chance at sharing their stories with the help of artificial intelligence. The campaign called Unfinished Legacies is meant to target youth and potentially save other peoples’ lives.

Kansas City partnered with advertising group Barkley OKP to create AI-generated videos that animate the voices and faces of three fatal fentanyl overdose victims in Kansas City. Their names are Jaden Anderson, Victor Avalos Marmolejo, and Jordan Coburn.

Kansas City leaders hope youth will hear this message loud and clear to prevent them from becoming another statistic.

“What I didn’t know, no one knew, is that there was fentanyl in it. Now I’m gone because I didn’t know,” these are the words said by fentanyl victim Jordan Coburn in the video titled ‘Jordan Coburn’s Final Words.’
