NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. (KOLN) – An aquaponics farm in Nebraska City was destroyed after an electrical fire Wednesday night.
More than 85 firefighters from five departments battled a fire in the main production barn of the Nebraska Vegetable and Protein, according to News Channel Nebraska.
The Nebraska City Fire Department reported the fire caused an estimated $1.8 million in damage.
The business said all of their crops and livestock were killed in the fire.
“Our community and five surrounding communities did good, by keeping our family, employees and fellow first responders safe and well,” the business said in a social media post.
They will be releasing more information regarding their mission and plans to rebuild at a later date.
