Dozens facing homelessness flock to Grand Haven hotel for shelter amid cold [Video]

The Baymont Inn & Suites put out a social media post telling those facing homelessness they can get reduced rates during the winter freeze.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Grand Haven’s Baymont Inn and Suites has become a temporary space for those seeking shelter. And it’s all thanks to strangers.

For General Manager Eric Scott, giving a place for those who don’t have a home during the extreme cold this week became as important as running the business.

“We’ve had guests call wanting to donate to that cause, to help people out,” said Scott on Monday afternoon. “So, I put it out there so that way they could help out, and, you know, get people some some rooms. It just took off after that.”

After raising over $3,000 in donations, people like Ed were able to get rooms.
