0:49 DIVIDEND PORTFOLIO CATEGORY ANALYSIS
1:00 Analysis on August 12, 2024
1:35 I believe my portfolio pre-SBUX share price surge is more representative of where I really am at.
2:39 Sin Stocks now comprise 31.6% of my dividend income!
2:59 I use cash flow from dividends, right now, to help pay bills. My top priority is dividend cash flow.
3:18 I have taken on some risk with my huge exposure to sin stocks, this is a conscious decision.
3:50 I locked in a 9.75% starting dividend yield on my large MO tranche from last December.
4:10 Sin stocks are out-of-favor in society, and they comprise a concentration of risk in my portfolio.
5:11 Restaurants is my second largest category, at 14.4% of my portfolio by-value, but only 10.5% of my dividend income.
5:43 I buy these stocks for CAGR, compound annual growth rate.
6:37 What could go wrong? I am very focused on sin stocks, restaurants, and CPG food are all similar in some ways.
8:43 ETFs is only 1.5% of my portfolio. (This is SCHD.) I want to increase the size of this position substantially.
9:12 It’s great to look at one’s portfolio in a category lens to formulate strategy.
10:36 I need to diversify. I need to focus on SCHD. I should also focus on industries like healthcare, defense, and retail a bit more than I have.
11:05 SLIDE 1: MY TOP 7 DIVIDEND STOCKS
11:20 They keep changing.
12:36 Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) 8.4%
12:41 Starbucks (SBUX) 7.72%
12:48 PepsiCo (PEP) 7.71%
13:11 My top 7 comprise 53.02% of my dividend income. 47.78% of portfolio value.
13:38 I focus on my best ideas. I prioritize my top holdings.
14:00 SLIDE 2: SIN STOCKS ARE MY LARGEST CATEGORY
14:26 I put “sin stocks” in quotations.
14:54 SLIDE 3: MY DIVIDEND INCOME IS WAY UP
15:40 I feel good about having a high current yield, as dividend growth seems a bit slower these days.
15:52 I’m up 9.89% in dividend income since my May, 2024 stock portfolio update.
16:22 My dividend income is up 64.2% since 4/19/22.
16:40 Re-focus on current yield and capital deployment.
17:20 It’s important to zoom out and look at the long-term.
18:18 SLIDE 4: PORTFOLIO VALUE IS BACK TO AN ALL-TIME HIGH
19:12 I’m doing 20.7% more dividend income on a portfolio similar in size to my 4/8/23 portfolio.
19:54 I went really big on Realty Income (O) last December. 4.8% in O, and 6.7% of my dividend income.
21:39 SLIDE 5: PORTFOLIO YIELD VS. PORTFOLIO GROWTH
21:55 3.76% current dividend yield (I’d like it to be 4% or 4.5%)
22:09 4.77% dividend growth (lower than I’d like it to be)
22:53 I’m blending higher-yielders with faster dividend growers.
24:01 Thought Exercise: Should I trim any of my lower-performing stocks?
