Crozet Square and Oak Street improvements to begin Monday [Video]

Construction is set to being Monday on multiple projects designed to improve traffic flow, increase pedestrian access and improve water drainage in the village of Crozet.

The work on Crozet Square and Oak Street is expected to take until August to complete, according to Albemarle County officials.

However, Businesses plan to remain open during the planned five stages of construction. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures, construction crews, flagging and detours, all of which may be affected by weather conditions.

Upgrades expected along 670 feet of Crozet Square will include a new sidewalk and updated signs, plus perpendicular parking on both sides of the street. The meeting of Crozet Square and Crozet Avenue will be converted into a right-turn-only intersection to improve traffic flow. Vehicles heading south on Crozet Avenue will be able to reach the Square by using Library Avenue and Oak Street.
