Crews battle 2-alarm fire at northwest Charlotte apartment complex WSOC TV [Video]

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte firefighters said it took them a little under an hour to put out a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in northwest Charlotte Thursday morning.

Officials with the Charlotte Fire Department said smoke was showing from the two-story building in the 100 block of Park Fairfax Drive when they arrived around 7:30 a.m.

At one point, CFD told Channel 9′s Eli Brand they had to call for backup. Ultimately, it took 60 firefighters to get the fire under control.

No one was injured, including the people living in the complex and the responding firefighters.

While at the complex, we saw crews using chainsaws to carve holes in the roof. Officials said that’s a technique used to vent out the smoke to make it easier for search and rescue to look for people inside.
