Court battle over TikTok ownership begins [Video]

TikTok, the short video app that nearly half of Americans use, is fighting a law forcing the company to change ownership or be outlawed in the U.S. Arguments before a federal appeals court begin Monday.But the battle over the social media app’s ownership began earlier this year when President Joe Biden signed a bill that Congress passed. The law required TikTok’s Chinese owners to sell the U.S. arm of the company to an American buyer. Lawmakers expressed concerns the Chinese government could demand TikTok turn over viewing data or use the algorithm to feed Americans propaganda.But TikTok argues a ban would violate its right to free speech.
