MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A wine bar in Cooper-Young has been added to the list of Memphis businesses closing for good.
Knifebird Wine Bar posted a statement to social media Monday, saying in part:
“The rumors are true, we closed our doors for good this past weekend. Goodbyes are hard & this was an impossibly difficult decision for us… owning a restaurant is tough. It’s long hours, endless stress & financially draining. We loved every minute of it. But we’re exhausted. This was a tough decision that didn’t come lightly.”
Knifebird opened next door to the Urban Outfitters at Cooper Street and Central Avenue five years ago, offering wines and charcuterie selections since 2019.
Its sudden closure comes just a few weeks after Houston’s in East Memphis announced it was shutting its doors after decades in business.
