Tacos La Jefa said it might have to close down without donations.
ST. LOUIS — The Dutchtown community is rallying behind a popular female-owned restaurant.
Tacos La Jefa posted on social media a few days ago that it may have to close after the owners trusted someone to manage their business. The post said the team was struggling to survive after being left with unpaid taxes, bills, and expenses.
Since then, Tacos La Jefa created a GoFundMe page asking to help raise $5,000.
Many in the neighborhood showed up to order food. A 5 On Your Side journalist swung by for lunch and arrived to a packed restaurant with only two people working — many ordering the restaurant’s famous birria plates and tacos. The Facebook page Taste of North St. Louis and Beyond asked people to support by ordering and eating tacos, contributing to their GoFundMe page, sharing their story, or even considering investing in the business.
