College Station council moves forward with recreation center [Video]

Phase I of a future recreation center in College Station is done and dusted after Thursday’s city council meeting when city staff was directed to move on to Phase II and work on designs, cost analysis and possible future sites.

During an October council meeting, city staff approved a contract with Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architecture to complete a market analysis of other similar recreation centers and if the public needs a recreation center. IN January, citizens gave feedback on amenities they would like to see in a recreation center if one was constructed. Data was also collected from surveys that were mailed and administered through multiple platforms, according to the city.

Jennifer Cain, director of capital projects and facility management, introduced the representative from Brinkley Sargent Wiginton Architecture, Steven Springs, and he discussed the current timeline for the center.
