Businesses support man who lost dog in suspected Nashville road rage shooting [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Several Middle Tennessee merchants are coming together to support a small business owner after his dog was shot and killed last week during a suspected road rage incident in Nashville.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the victim was driving north on Bell Road, near Smith Springs Road, on Wednesday, Sept. 4 when a black Dodge Ram pickup truck was following him closely, probably wanting to pass him.

When Whitney Peterson stopped at the red light, ready to turn left into his neighborhood, the suspect reportedly pulled up next to him, pointed a gun, and fired at the passenger’s side, shooting out the back window. Although Peterson wasn’t injured, his four-legged business partner, Scout, was hit by gunfire and died immediately.
