In my last two decades of career, I changed 6 to 7 different companies and even job profiles. And the only thing that worked for me was referrals. Referrals from future CEOs, referrals from friends working in those companies, and referrals even from some networking groups like Google Business Groups.
Today I am going to talk about the importance of referrals in your job search. Almost 60 to 70% of employees get hired via referrals. Employee referrals, or friend referrals, and even sometimes your network refers you.
What most job searchers are not aware of is how to build your referral network. They just create a LinkedIn profile and upload resume to job portals and pray.
But the referral model works on different lines. Think about it: link a networking.
You go to different networking events, exhibitions, conferences, summits, local meetups, etc. This is where you start building your network. What more, even LinkedIn is one of the learning professional networking platforms.
