TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – A year after breaking ground on the facility, a new YMCA building in west Tuscaloosa is bringing hope for families seeking more activities for their children.
While the history of Tuscaloosa’s Benjamin Barnes YMCA began in the 1950’s, a new era started this week as a new Y opened to the public.
Dozens of children joined city leaders to cut the ribbon for the brand-new Bejamin Barnes YMCA.
The city of Tuscaloosa spent $11.3 million to build it.
City leaders believe the Benjamin Barnes “Y” will bring more enhanced resources to families in this community.
