BBB warns Kentuckiana residents of the latest scams reported in our area | Morning [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — From phishing schemes to fake investments, scams are all around us.

Whitney Adkins, director of the Better Business Bureau, visited WDRB Mornings on Tuesday and revealed the latest scams reported in Kentuckiana.

Some people have reported scam phone calls claiming to raise money for firefighters.

If you get a phone call from a charity you don’t recognize, hang up and research the organization online.

Facebook scams are also common, including people advertising a business they aren’t actually related to.

“Be wary of clicking on a third party type of social media site, even if it’s a company you’re familiar with,” Adkins said. “Your best bet is to visit the company’s website directly before purchasing.”

Auction scams, as well as Riverlink scams, have also been reported this month.

The BBB says you should use a credit card when possible, since it’s a secure form of payment.
