On the eve of his inauguration, President Donald Trump said an executive order suspending a nationwide ban on TikTok would be among his first official acts. The social media platform and app’s ardent users waited Monday to learn if he would follow through and if so, what the order might say. The platform went offline before the ban upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court took effect on Sunday. TikTok later restored access for existing users, but Google and Apple haven’t reinstated TikTok to their app stores. Business leaders, lawmakers and legal scholars are watching to see how Trump tries to resolve a thicket of regulatory, financial and geopolitical issues with his signature.
