TikTok ban reversal brings optimism to Kentucky content creator [Video]

LARUE COUNTY, Ky. — Hours after his second inauguration, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that would keep TikTok operating for 75 days.

TikTok’s China-based parent ByteDance was supposed to find a U.S. buyer or be banned on Jan. 19. Trump’s order could give ByteDance more time to find a buyer.

Bringing broadband internet to a LaRue County farm, Telecast Communications owner Cam Lasley is approaching his fifth year in business.

“For some people, it’s life changing,” he said. 

But just as much as he uses a drill, Lasley also uses his phone. In a harness 20 feet in the air, he describes, beginning to end, the relay station he’s installing on a red barn, bringing high internet speeds to people who wouldn’t have them otherwise.

“There’s been several several dozens of customers we’ve helped get internet access to just because they saw our content online, primarily through TikTok,” he said.
