Freeway reopens after police situation partially closes I-10 [Video]

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Traffic is slowly reopening after a police situation temporarily shut down a major Phoenix-area freeway Saturday night.

ADOT posted on social media around 8:20 p.m. that I-10 westbound near 7th Street was closed due to an active “police situation.”

The incident caused heavy delays in the westbound lanes.

The eastbound HOV and left lanes were also blocked. The lanes all reopened around 9:40 p.m.

Officers responded to the area for reports of someone on the overpass sign. They shut down the freeway to negotiate with the man.

Officers eventually called him down, and he was taken to receive medical help.

No other information about the incident has been released yet.
