MILTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Students at Milton Elementary School went on a surprise field trip Tuesday morning.
Students boarded busses and took a short ride from the current Milton Elementary school to the brand new building.
“It’s taken about two years. We had a design team that consisted of the board office and our staff members and we worked together to give the architect ideas to design this school,” said Shannon Leggett, Milton Elementary School principal.
Students got to stand with members of the Cabell County Board of Education and community leaders to cut the ribbon on the new school, and take a tour of the building before they start here in January.
After the ribbon cutting Tuesday morning, prep was underway for an open house set from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.
