Spread of flu among vendors prompts cancellation of Christmas market [Video]

HARTSELLE, Ala. — Bah, flubug!

Concerns about a spreading virus prompted organizers to call off Sunday’s Rocky Acres Christmas Market in Hartselle.

In a social media post, they said several vendors have come down with influenza, and the cancellation was a necessary measure to avoid further spread.

“Due to multiple vendors having the FLU…we feel it’s best to CANCEL THE Rocky Acres Christmas Market!!! We are so sorry for any inconvenience!!!” the post read.

Organizers noted that they would try to reschedule the event if it is feasible.

The market was set to take place at the Rocky Acres Event Venue at 2141 Hwy. 55 West from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention flu surveillance report shows “moderate” activity across Alabama, though cases have been on the increase in recent weeks.
