LAKEWOOD, Colo. — One person was shot and killed by Lakewood police Monday morning outside a Best Buy, the Lakewood Police Department said. The investigation closed W Alaska Drive between S Wadsworth Boulevard and S Vance Street.
Two agents responded to a report that someone was trespassing on one of the business properties at 3:32 a.m. Monday in the Belmar area, the Lakewood Police Department’s public information officer told Denver7.
Lakewood police said the suspect showed officers a gun, and that’s when agents said they fired at him. The suspect was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead, but the department said no agents were injured.
The identity of the man who died will not be released publicly until his family is notified, Lakewood police said during an early Monday-morning news conference.
